To download BackTrack, you're going to need a BitTorrent client (the software is distributed via BitTorrent); I used the current beta version of BackTrack with no problems. Simply go to the BackTrack download page, hit the torrent, and wait for it to download. Then you can use any standard CD burning software to burn BackTrack to a CD-ROM.
Alternatively, you can download a USB version and copy it onto a USB memory stick; of course, this only works if the system you are interacting with is recent enough to support booting off of a USB memory stick.

Just download the files and run the setup program. Choosing the default installation options should be safe. (In the case of Npcap, Scapy will work with 802.11 option enabled. You might want to make sure that this is ticked when installing).
Please dont tell me that people havent already heard about this? Oh and just to point out backtrack aint essential. I mean aircrack-ng runs on many linux platforms the only advantage is for windows users who wanna try linus before making the right move ;)
Are you kidding, did hackaday really publish this. An article showing some of the new features of backtrack 3 would have been nice, but did you really have to spoon feed kiddies this info, if they are ready for it, they will learn it on their own. There are plenty of enough resources out there.
