Car Donation Services

Your local chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) may accept donations of cars, trucks, boats, RVs and other vehicles. The organization sells the cars and uses the proceeds to help provide families with a home away from home during the hospitalization of a seriously ill or injured child.

The Salvation Army accepts vehicle donations in certain locations. The organization sells donated vehicles to fund various programs, including disaster relief, homeless shelters, food pantries, veterans services, job training and more.

Since launching the national vehicle donation program, Cars for Homes, in 2005, Habitat has accepted over 120,000 vehicles for reselling or recycling, raising funds for Habitat to partner with local families to build stability and security that a safe affordable home allows.

We accept almost all vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, farm equipment and construction equipment. If you want to donate your car or truck, please go to our donation wizard. If you want to donate any other type of vehicle, please call us at 1-877-277-4344.

Habitat receives funds for each donated vehicle, although a car sold at auction generally generates more revenue than one that is recycled. Every donation makes a difference and the families that partner with us are extremely grateful for your help.

Since creating the Cars for Homes program to raise funds to build homes, our car donation partner, Advanced Remarketing Services, has directed 48,298 Cars for Homes vehicle donations to licensed recyclers.

Advanced Remarketing Services is our authorized agent and attorney-in-fact for the purpose of selling vehicles and transferring titles. They handle the title transfer, towing and reporting of all vehicle donations.

As a donor, the program provides a cost-free way to dispose of your unwanted vehicle while getting a tax deduction. As a supporter, your donation to the Red Cross Vehicle Donation Program enables the Red Cross to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Donating your vehicle is another great way to help us help others.

The Red Cross Vehicle Donation Program can accept vehicles in almost any condition, in all 50 states. We accept many types of vehicles, including car donations, trucks of all sizes, SUVs, RVs, boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, jet skis, tractors, farm equipment and other heavy equipment, and more.

You will receive an acknowledgement letter that can be used as a vehicle donation tax receipt for tax deduction purposes. Generally within 30 days, your vehicle will be sold through one of our partner auction sites on behalf of the Red Cross. Once sold, additional tax documents may be provided when required by IRS regulations as a result of the sale value of the vehicle. Revenue from the sale is sent directly to the Red Cross to support our mission.

The Red Cross partners with CARS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit because of its ability to provide consistent returns and services across the majority of the area served by the Red Cross. CARS handles the entire vehicle donation process on behalf of the Red Cross, from the initial call or online inquiry to providing the donor services once your vehicle is sold.

Please complete the online vehicle donation form below with information regarding the vehicle you would like to donate. Our partners will contact you by phone within 24 hours to help finalize your donation. If you prefer, you may contact us directly at 1-855-92 RC CAR (855-927-2227). Thank you for your support of the American Red Cross.

Our partner, CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, can accept vehicles in almost any condition, whether they can be driven or not, in all 50 states. We accept many types of vehicle donations, including cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, boats, motorcycles, RVs, snowmobiles, jet skis, heavy equipment, farm equipment, tractors and more.

Your car donation to the American Red Cross enables the Red Cross to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Donating your car is a free service to you, and another great way to help us help others.

Donors to the American Red Cross Vehicle Donation Program can deduct the full sale value of their vehicle donation. At the time of pick-up, the tow operator will provide the donor with an initial tax receipt. Once the vehicle sells, our partner CARS, will mail the donor a Thank You letter with the final sale price and any additional tax paperwork for the donation. The tax receipt will provide all you need to receive full credit for the gross revenue received up to $500. If your vehicle is sold for more than $500, you may receive full tax credit if you complete and return the form that IAA provides as required by the IRS. If you have any issues or concerns at any point in the process, you may contact IAA at 855 92 RC CAR (927-2227).

Please consult a tax professional for legal or tax advice regarding vehicle donations. Below is a list of IRS vehicle donation resources that provide further information regarding the tax benefits and liabilities of donating a car.

Due to differing regulations and other considerations, not all types of vehicles are accepted at all locations, so it's best to contact us first. For more detailed information on how to donate your vehicle, give us a call at 1-800-SA-TRUCK (1-800-728-7825) or start a vehicle donation. Your vehicle donation will be used to help rehabilitate men and women in our Adult Rehabilitation Centers and will result in a tax deduction in accordance with IRS rules.

A: The Salvation Army has a broad mission to do the most good in our communities and throughout the nation. We do this by providing the necessary services needed by our brothers and sisters who need relief and spiritual support. Our service areas include:

What makes our program so unique? There are many car donation programs, most offered by commercial companies. Typically, these programs charge in excess of 30% of the net earnings. Our flat rate management fee allows charities to receive a greater return on all sold vehicles.

Donated vehicles are cleaned, repaired, and prepared for auction by our people. Your donation helps them develop important job experience and, just as important, they learn people skills, getting along with fellow workers and dealing with customers.

In the best interest of our nationwide Charity Affiliates, we at Riteway Car Donations, Inc., instate this policy allowing us to reserve the right to decline certain donations, based on criteria. Please know we do our best to accommodate you, our donor, however, based on many different factors we are not able to accept all vehicle donations. We also reserve the right to decline to fundraise on behalf of local or national political candidacy campaigns, and we reserve the right to refuse acceptance of charity affiliation based on principle, as our company does not ever support any hate or discriminatory groups. Thank you for understanding, please feel free to contact us directly with any questions at (888) 250-4490, or by email at info@ritewaydonations.org. Thank you!

Tax deductions are available for donations made to organizations that the Internal Revenue Service has determined to be tax-exempt under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. To verify an organization's qualified status, you can:

Churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, and governments are not required to register with the Non-Profit Organizations/Public Charities Division or apply to the IRS for tax-exempt determination. They may not be listed in Publication 78, but donations to these institutions are tax deductible.

Find out what the organization's mission is and how your donation will help it. Ask if your donation can go to a particular program or service that interests you or whether it must go only into the charity's general fund. Do not donate to an organization that avoids talking about its charitable purpose or refuses to send you information.

Many charities contract with for-profit companies to handle all the details of motor vehicle donations. If this is the case, ask how the money from your car donation is split between your charity and the for-profit company. 041b061a72
